About our Autism Assessments
An Autism Assessment can determine whether an individual aged 3 years and over meets diagnostic criteria for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is referred to as a diagnostic assessment and provides information about the person’s strengths and support needs.
A review assessment might be helpful if an individual has already been given a diagnosis of Autism and needs an updated assessment for funding purposes or support planning. A review assessment can be useful at times of transition and provides current information on social skills, behaviour, general living skills and support needs.
A cognitive assessment can be conducted in conjunction with the Autism Assessment if information is required on the individual’s learning capabilities, cognitive strengths and weaknesses, support needs at school, and/or capacity for independence.
All assessments will be completed with a feedback session during which you will receive all results, a comprehensive written report, and practical evidence-based strategies to assist the individual to thrive in terms of everyday functioning, relationships, behaviour and mental health. With your consent, we can share this information with other support people, including teachers and caseworkers. We can also meet with school staff to assist them to understand the individual’s needs and the recommended strategies.
If ongoing support is indicated, you can continue your care within Berry Collective Psychology for social skills intervention, behaviour support, parenting support, and individual or family therapy. If other support is required, such as paediatric care, occupational therapy, speech therapy or psychiatry, we can provide careful recommendations to suit you and your family.
